The men accused of committing the crime

A 57-year-old man has been set ablaze by four men after accusing him of practicing witchcraft and being responsible for the death of children in their community. The incident took place in Adamawa State, Nigeria.

The police in Adamawa state have already nabbed the four middle-aged men over the killing and setting ablaze of the deceased identified as Benson Timothy. They had accused him of witchcraft in Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State on May 15th, 2022.

According to the police, the middle-aged men identified as Ezekiel Kumtha, Awo Mesa, Ishaku Sanda, and Oga Dapila, allegedly accused the deceased of practicing witchcraft and causing the death of underage children in the community.

It was reported that the men met the victim at a drinking joint where they accused him of witchcraft and then proceeded to pounce on him with clubs and also pelted him with stones before setting his body ablaze.

In the court papers filed against the suspects before a Magistrate Court in the state, the police prosecutor, Inspector Zakka Musa alleged that the defendants criminally conspired and attacked the deceased, Benson Timothy, on the ill-fated day.
