Evangelist Franklin Graham, son of late superstar evangelist Billy Graham, called for prayers for Oregon State Democratic Governor, Kate Brown, widely known for practicing yoga and meditation, without attachment to any form of religion.
While addressing a crowd of over 12,000 people near Portland on Sunday, called on the congregation to pray for governor Brown so that she would become a Christian, Willamette Week reported.
“Let’s pray for your governor, Gov. Brown. it be something if she got saved? Amen,” Graham said, the Portland weekly reported. “We pray for Kate Brown. And Lord, I pray that she would come to know your son Jesus Christ as her lord and savior one day.”
Graham continued: “If the church went to the polls and voted, you could turn this state around,” Graham who is an outspoken ally of Donald Trump told the crowd at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds. “The enemy out there thinks the church is asleep.”
Asked by reporters during a phone-in news conference about her religious beliefs, Brown said she is a yogi, or one who practices yoga.
“I believe very much that each of us is a spiritual being, and that’s how I see the world,” Brown said, adding that she feels people should treat human beings with respect.
Brown is up for election in November. Oregon is one of America’s most liberal states, with democrats also controlling the legislature.
While in India, yoga for many is a spiritual or religious practice, in America it is generally secular.

Evangelist Graham should have urged the worshippers to live a good and christ like life, so that when non believers or Atheists see them, they would love to identify with them and give Christianity a try and not telling people to pray for a Governor that practises Yoga, most atheists today didn’t just become atheist, some of them are like that because of the attitude a Christian showed them and they now said its better to become an atheist rather be a Christian with this bad character
