House abandoned by terrified owners after ‘children’s screams’ heard in basement

Alan and Christine Tait fled their home in Wales after hearing the unexplained noises and have lived in a camper van ever since.

Police took a look around their old home, in Ammanford, but the source of the chilling sounds has not been identified.

The pair said the noises — which include children screaming and mysterious mechanical sounds — began in June last year.

“It was like a flushing noise that I heard first,” Christine Tait told Wales Online.

“I told Alan about it and that I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from.

“He left his phone in the bathroom with the recorder on to try to pick up the source of the noise, and then we could hear a machine running.

“We started to record all over the house, and we picked up the sounds of chains, a motorbike starting, and people screaming.”

The couple suggested the noise could be from criminal activities happening in a secret tunnel beneath their home, such as human trafficking.

Mrs Tait believes there are “quite a lot of people down there”.

Insistent that the noises need a proper investigation, the couple have been handing out fliers across the UK about the noises in the hope that a petition might prompt police to probe further.

“Hundreds of people have been in touch with us and agreed that this needs to be properly looked at,” Mr Tait said.

“All I really want is an explanation.

“Why are there people screaming? There must be something going on.”

Wales Online visited the abandoned home, after being handed the keys by the Tates, but their recording picked-up nothing unusual.

However, the publication could not record inside the basement because it has now been sealed off.

Mr Tait previously tunnelled 1.5 meters into the basement in an attempt to get better recordings.
