Uber Driver Releases Video Of Passenger Attacking Him

An Uber driver was attacked by a female passenger, who bit a chunk out of his neck during a trip earlier this week.

Michael Hassey Jr, from Florida, US, was taking

Michele Stilwell

on a trip through Pinellas County when she allegedly jumped on him in an unprovoked attack.

In footage shared of the incident, Stilwell, 55, can be seen with her arms wrapped tight around Mr Hassey’s neck, shouting ‘die’.

After hearing his cries for help, a number of passers-by rush to the driver’s aid.

Mr Hassey tries to reason with her, saying: “I can’t breathe! I’m just your Uber driver, I’m just your Uber driver.”

However, Stilwell continues to keep a tight grip and allegedly bites into his neck.

It is only when he is able to remove her grip and open the driver-side door that Mr Hassey is able to escape.

According to reports, Stilwell has since said that she recalls nothing of the incident, and it is not clear as to what happened.

It’s thought that she may have been intoxicated at the time of the attack.

Speaking later, Mr Hassey told WFLA that Stilwell was asleep for most of the journey until just a few blocks from her home, when she woke up and began to attack him.

The 22-year-old said she started shouting ‘my daughter, my daughter’ and slapping him across the head.

‘Traumatised’ by the incident, he said: “She started screaming curse words at me and slapped me in the face.

“She sinks into my neck like a pitbull, shaking her head and stuff.”

He added: “I’ve never been that scared in my whole entire life, I thought I was going to die.”

Mr Hassey went on to say that he chose not to fight back as he didn’t want to hit a woman.

He said: “I let it happen. I didn’t put my hands back on her because I have two sisters and I was raised to never put my hands on a female.”

Mr Hassey also said that he has tried to get in touch with Uber since the attack but hadn’t heard anything back.

A spokesperson for the taxi service told WFLA8: “What’s been described is disturbing.

“Violence of any kind is not tolerated on the Uber app, and we immediately removed the rider’s access as soon as this was reported to us.”

Stilwell, who is a registered nurse in Florida, with 25 years of experience, has since been charged with aggravated battery and tampering with a witness.

She was later released on a $15,000 bond.
