Dallas teen shoots 15-year-old with gun he thought was unloaded

A 13-year-old boy shot and killed a teenager believed to be one of his best friends in Dallas with a gun he thought was unloaded, police and a report said.

The victim identified as Isaac Rodriguez by Fox 4 and Telemundo Dallas, was fatally shot in the head Wednesday afternoon, according to Dallas police.

The alleged shooter told officers the victim shot himself in the head, police said.

Following investigations it was determined that he took the gun, believing it was unloaded, pulled the trigger and hit the victim, a 15-year-old boy, according to authorities.

The victim’s mother, Marisol Lopez, said her son considered the 13-year-old alleged shooter to be like a “brother.”

“He actually considered him as a brother,” she told Fox 4. “He’s like, ‘That’s my brother. That’s my partner for life.’”

“It was an accident,” Lopez reportedly said. “But an accident could be in the hand, the leg. Why in the head? You know, why in the head?”

The heartbroken mother said her son was staying with the 13-year-old’s family for the summer to work construction with the younger teen’s father, according to Fox 4.

Dallas police said it they were still investigating the incident.
