Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the bodies of two women were reportedly found in a freezer in Canning Town, east London, reports Sky News.
Police said a 50-year-old man had been detained on Monday and a 34-year-old on Tuesday afternoon.
The bodies were discovered after officers were called to a property in Vandome Close on Friday morning following “concerns for the welfare of an occupant”.
Officers are still working to identify the women and trace their families.
Police have been investigating at the block of flats in Vandome Close, where the glass in one of the windows of the ground-floor flat is covered with plastic and another boarded up.
Sky News crime correspondent Martin Brunt said he had spoken to neighbours at a house about half a mile away, where it is believed the older suspect was arrested on Monday morning.
Two police are at the door and neighbours say a man – who they describe as about 50 years old and disabled – was detained.
“There appear to be two teams of forensic investigators who look as though they are preparing to start a search of this new location,” said Brunt.
He also said there was some newspaper speculation that one of the victims “could potentially be a woman who was known locally – a Cypriot-born woman who has not been seen for about a year… a 38-year-old woman – a mother of two”.
“Her name and description are both things that are recognised by neighbours at this new location,” added Sky’s correspondent.
However, he stressed that the identities of the women have still not been confirmed by police.
One resident who lives near the house told the Press Association the man looked “shocked” when he was taken away.
“They arrested him, put him in the back of the van and that’s it,” said the woman, who added there were often “women going in and out” of the property.
