The social media is outraged over photos that surfaced online showing the brutal beating received by a woman from her husband in Sapele town, Delta State, Nigeria.
The man simply identified as Gbubemi has been accused of brutalising his wife though the reason is yet unknown.
According to news portal, Sapele Oghenek, the man said to be from the Dabio family, has been allegedly maltreating the woman since they got married.
It was also alleged that he stabbed his wife after assaulting her.
The reason for the brutal beating given to this woman by her husband is not yet known but local reports have it that he has been maltreating the woman for a long while but she does not want to leave the marriage.
She probably remained in the marriage despite the domestic abuse because African culture does not freely accommodate women who left their marriages irrespective of the reason but that is gradually changing as more women are quitting marriages due to domestic abuse and other reasons.
