Woman swims to India from Bangladesh to marry boyfriend she met on Facebook, gets arrested after the wedding

Love can drive someone to any extent just to be with a partner but this particular story is a little bizarre as it landed this woman into trouble.

A 22-year-old woman from Bangladesh swam across the border to locate and marry her Indian boyfriend.

Krishna Mandal had walked through the wild forests of the Sunderbans and swam for an hour to enter India to marry her lover.

She met Abhik Mandal on Facebook and fell in love with him.

The union seemed impossible because she did not have a passport but she decided to cross the border by entering the Sunderban forests and then swimming for an hour in the river.

Krishna achieved her aim as she got married to Abhik at Kalighat Temple in Kolkata on a weekend.

However, she was arrested on Monday for crossing the border illegally, India Today reported.

Krishna may be handed over to the Bangladesh High Commission, according to sources.
