Bulgarian prophetess Baba Vanga – who, according to her supporters, predicted Brexit, 9/11 and the devastating tsunami in Thailand – foresaw a terrible fate for US President Donald Trump, superstitious fans have claimed.
Daily Star reports that the mystic, who is often called “the Nostradamus of the Balkans”, died in 1996, but she was making predictions right up until her final days.
Several media reports have it that she foresaw a US president suffering from “a mysterious illness” in 2020 which will leave him deaf and with a brain tumour.
Baba Vanga was blinded by a dust storm near her family’s farm in what is now Macedonia.
But according to whacky claims by fans, the loss of vision gave her a sort of “second sight” which enabled her to predict future events with uncanny accuracy.
The mystic, who was born Vangeliya Pandeva Dimitrova, didn’t write down her own predictions.
Her followers claim it was noted down what she said – including predictions about the sinking of the Russian submarine Kursk, and the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl.
Most chilling was a purported 1989 prediction in which she said: “Horror, horror! The American brothers will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush, and innocent blood will be gushing.”
That’s been seen as a foreshadowing of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre being struck by two airliners on September 11, 2001.
It should be noted, however, that many of the predictions ascribed to the Balkan mystic seem to have been added years after her death by her admirers and several others have been completely wrong.
The prediction about the President’s illness, for example, seems at one point to have been timetabled for 2019, as was an attempt on the life of Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
A nuclear war she had pencilled in for the years 2010 to 2014 has failed to materialise, and while her prophecy that the 44th President of the United States – Barack Obama – would be an African-American man, only a very generous interpretation would accept her prediction that he would also be the country’s last Commander-in-chief.
But the blind seer was certainly taken seriously by some. The Bulgarian government put Vanga on the state payroll.
A permanent staff of secretaries were tasked with writing down her predictions and transcribe her interviews with the people who came to her for advice.
The Institutes of Suggestology and Parapsychology in Sofia and Petrich also studied Vanga’s apparent psychic abilities.
If you’re keeping score at home, some other Baba Vanga prophecies include a change in the Earth’s orbit in 2023, She foretold that in 2023, a war between the US and Muslim-Controlled Italy using climate weapons in 2066 and the discovery of a working method of time travel in 2304.
Her predictions end in the far distant year 5079 which, she said, will mark the end of the Universe.
