Outrage As Man Wrongly Calculates Women Need 7 Tampons Per Period

One man recently decided to weigh in ona discourse on the topic “Mensturation” and drew attacks from social media users.

He actually “worked out” how many tampons a menstruating woman needs per period.

Unluckily for him, he was WAY off with his calculations.

“So, the average period is between 10-35ml of blood, each tampon holds about 5ml, so 7 tampons per cycle,” he revealed helpfully in a post which has since been shared on Twitter.

Mirror describes this as a “conservative estimate” and ignore the phrase “extra juicy uterine lining”, which is never acceptable to use.
However, it gets worse. The man the works out the annual cost of these fantasy seven-tampon-periods. According to his maths, that’s £20 a year on tampons.
Again, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and put this down to naivety and not knowing any women.

But then he goes and well and truly digs himself a bottomless hole by adding: “Cut down on your Starbucks venti frapps and stop whining. This isn’t a first world problem.”

It will come as no surprise that his calculation and fiscal advice went down like a lead balloon.

Among all the comments about how bad his maths was, one woman also pointed out how medically unsound his workings out were.
It’s also important to realise that, actually, many young women and girls in the UK experience hygiene poverty, where basics such as sanitary products are an expense they can’t afford.

So yes, mister, not being able to afford tampons is very much a first world problem for many. Now, be gone!
