Three Nurses in a Malawian Health Center have been fired for chasing a pregnant woman out of labour ward during the time of delivery.

The incident then forced the woman to deliver her baby in a drain behind the toilets with the help of her mother.

Three nurses at Phalombe Health Centre have been fired for chasing a pregnant woman from labour ward during the time of delivery.

The development forced the pregnant woman with the help of her mother to deliver the baby in a drain behind the toilets.

The incident which happened in January this year at Phalombe Health Centre led to public uproar then informed disciplinary process against the nurses.

Phalombe District Health Officer Ketwin Kondowe who confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, identified the three as Maureen Chilikutali, Mphatso Chanza and Mercy Sonjera.

“It’s true that they have been dismissed as you recall that initially they got interdicted so as to give room to local authority service commission to look into the matter and make a determination,” Kondowe was quoted as saying on state owned Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).
